About Us

Climb High has been an outfitter for some well know alpinist, mountaineers and international guiding companies, and has organized four first ascent expedition in Nepal and in Tibet. The first ascent expeditions are Jobo Ribjang, Tarkago, Kangnachugo and Labuche Kang.

    Joe is the author of Alaska climbing and David works as a climbing ranger on Mount Rainer.
  2. Maciej Berbeka
    Maciej is a legendary winter climber and is a highly respected climber in Poland. He is well known for his first winter ascent of Cho Oyu in winter (south pillar), Annapurna 1 south face (Polish route), and the first winter ascent of Manaslu.
  3. Dan Mazur
    Dan is famous for leading Greg Mortenson’s expedition to K2 and is featured in Three Cups of Tea, and for the rescue of Lincoln Hall on Everest in 2006.

Rajen Thapa (Director)

Rajen has vast experience organizing and leading treks and expeditions in the Himalaya. He has participated in more than 20 expeditions above 6,000m including Mount Everest (2007 and 2010) and Cho Oyu as an expedition leader for Summit Climb, USA. He is always ready to share his deep understanding of Nepal and its myriad of cultures. He has traveled widely and has worked as a climbing instructor in Nepal ad in the UK. Raj now spends his every summer in Germany and lives in Hidenheim.

Mountaineering Qualification:

  1. Basic course in mountaineering from Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, India.
  2. Advance course in mountaineering from Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, India.
  3. SPA from Plas y Brenin, UK.

Work experience:
Worked as a Search and Rescue Instructor for Nepal Police, Mountaineering Instructor for Nepal Mountaineering Association, Instructor for Boys Scout of America and British School Nepal, High rope instructor, UK (Trek Co), Rock climbing instructor, UK, Canyoning Guide, Mountaineering guide/ instructor, Everest, Lhotse (2007 and 2010) and Cho Oyu (2010) expedition leader.

 

Ang Sangay Sherpa

Our top lead climbing Sherpa with ascents of a few 8,000m peaks including Lhotse and Dhaulagiri, Barutse, Island peak, Mera peak, Lobuche East, Parchamo and Ramdung. Ang leads our treks and climbs in the Himalayas.

 

Phai Lama

Phai has summitted Everest, Baruntse, Island peak, Mera peak, Lobuche East, Pachamo. Phai lama has been our main climbing Sherpa for our Summit Climb Everest View Glacier school (voted as the top 25 trips in the world by National Geography Adventure Magazine).

 

Thuckteen Sherpa

Thuckteen comes from Thame and was a Buddhist monk for many years. Thuckteen leads our treks and works as a climbing Sherpa on our climbing trips. Thuckteen has participated on six Everest expeditions, summitted Amadablam two times, Island peak, Lobuche East, Mera peak, Parchamo peak and Ramdung.

 

Samdu Sherpa

Samdu is one of our youngest climbing Sherpas in our team with five ascents of Everest under his belt already. Samdu leads our treks and our trekking peaks. Sometimes, he is seen on our Summit Climb Everest View Glacier school in the autumn, when he is not climbing Everest.

 

Lhakpa

Lhakpa comes from Kharikhola, a village near Lukla. Lhakpa has just started climbing and has climbed Mera peak and Island peak, where he is on the plan to climb more, and also to join the Phortse ice climbing school. Lhakpa works with us as a trek guide.

 

Dawa Sherpa

Dawa has been working with Raj for last 13 years when they both use to work together for another trekking company in Nepal. Dawa started as a kitchen boy fifteen years ago, and has slowly graduated into one of our finest cooks we have in the team. Dawa has worked as a head cook on three expeditions to Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam, Jobo Ribjang (first ascent), Tarkago (first ascent), Labuche Kang (Tibet), Pumori and on countless trips to many of our six thousands meters peaks and treks.

Nim Passang Sherpa

Nim has been working as a cook for Climb High for four years and has been the head cook for the Everest view glacier school.

 

 

Ang Dawa

Ang is Climb High’s airport representative in Kathmandu, and helps us to arrange hotels and flights.

Dolma Sherpa

Dolma works in the office, looks after all our emails and receives the phone calls. Dolma is currently studying Business Management.


Late Pemba Doma Sherpa (Founder)

Although Pemba is no longer with us today, she was the founder of Climb high and the first Nepali woman to summit Mount Everest from the north side and one of only six women, who have scaled the mountain twice as part of the 2002 Nepalese women expedition. Raised by her grandparents after losing her mother at the age of two, Pemba was educated at the Khumjung School, one of the 26 schools that Sir Edmund Hillary has established in the Solu Khumbu region since 1961. Pemba spoke nine languages and traveled around the world raising money for her on profit foundation, Save The Himalaya Kindom, which educates Nepalese children, regardless of caste. She passed away during the descent after summiting Lhotse in 2007.

 

 

In 2003, Pemba Doma and her husband Rajen Thapa started Climb High, a trekking company that organizes treks and expeditions to some of the most popular peaks in Nepal and in Tibet.
