Mera Peak with Amphulaptsa Extension

Trek and climb period: 20 days
Region: Hinku & Hongu Valley, Everest Region
Dates: March / April / May / October / November

Mera peak is officially the highest of Nepal's permitted trekking peaks, rises to the south of Everest. Mera stands at 6,476m. The first ascent of Mera was made by J.O.M Roberts and Sen Tenzing on 20 May 1953 by the now standard route from the Mera la. By it's standard route from the Mera la, the ascent is technically straightforward: however after a heavy fall of snow or when the maze of the crevasses are open, the way can be long and demanding.

After summiting Mera peak, you will continue your trek and walk down to Kongmadingma and hike through the Hongu valley. At the pass, your guide and climbing Sherpas will set up fixed ropes and descend down towards the Imja valley. After Amphulaptsa pass, you will continue your trek towards Lukla. The Extensiopn of this trek will give you the opportunity to explore the Hongu valley which lies in a basin with surrounding peaks all around. The base camp to Bharuntse also goes from here. The views are quite spectacular from the to of the pass with some great views of Makalu, Amadablam, Lhotse, Nuptse and Baruntse.
