Three Peaks (Lobuche East, Pokalde and Island Peak)

This trip will take you to the summit of three peaks with two above 6000m. The Lobuche East and Island peak are the most popular peaks in the Everest region, and the combination of Pokalde with this trip allows you to explore the Kongma la pass which is not frequented by many trekkers.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmnadu (Boudha, Pashupatinath and Swambunath).

Day 03: Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding.
This is an hour flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport (2,800m). The trail from Lukla leads north from the airstrip and drops steeply for a bit, and then descends gently to Phakding (2,700m), your first overnight here. This is a 2 hrs trek.

Day 04: Phakding - Namche.
From Phading the trail continues north up the Dudh Koshi Valley (Koshi means river in Nepali and it comes down from the Everest glacier). All along this part of the trail, there is a magnificent forest of magnolia, rhododendron and giant firs. On the cliffs above the river it is possible to see musk deer and Himalayan tahr. At Monjo the trek enters the Sagarmatha National Park. The trail follows the river and crosses Dudh Koshi and makes a steep climb to Namche (3,440m). Namche is a very colorful Sherpa village where you will see vendors selling antiques and each Saturday there is an important weekly haat or market.

Day 05: Namche.
We will have a rest and acclimatization day in Namche.

Day 06: Namche - Thyangboche / Deboche.
Today we trek to Deboche (3,700m). We stop at Thyangboche which lies on the way and visit the famous Thyangboche monastery.

Day 07: Deboche - Pheriche (4,240m).
Before leaving Deboche, we visit the Deboche nunnery where old nuns live. Climb High completed a restoration project of the nunnery in 2005. We continue our trek to Pheriche.

Day 08: Pheriche - Lobuche East base camp (4,700m).
The trail ascends the broad, gently sloping valley to Phalang Karpo at 4,340m.The trail crosses small streams on boulders. The views of Tawachee and Cholatse (6,440m) are outstanding from along the trail. From Dugla (4,620m) the trail climbs higher on the moraine to a row of stone monuments built in the memory of those who have died on Everest. The trail then drops a bit and follows the western side of the valley to Lobuche. This is a 4-5 hrs trek.

Day 09: Training day in base camp.

Day 10: Today, we hike to Lobuche East high camp.
This is a 4 hrs climb today. High camp is located at 5,600m.

Day 11: Summit Lobuche East (6,119m). We will have an early start today at three in the morning and start moving up the rock band with head lamps. It will take three hours maximum to reach the snowline where there is a small glacier and then the climb starts up at an angle of 45 to 50 degrees all the way to the summit ridge. From the summit ridge, it is another 50 metres to the false summit (this is the summit where most people make it to). The true summit is little further, where you have to be careful with the snow conditions and there is a knife ridge.

The views during the climb are breathtaking as you see Everest as you climb up. Lhotse is also seen as it is slightly hidden behind the south face of Nuptse. Climb down to high camp, where the cooks will be waiting with tea, water, juice and some soups. After we pack our tents, we will head down towards base camp.

Day 12: Lobuche East base camp - Lobuche.
Today after breakfast and packing our bags, we will head toward Lobuche. We will walk down to Dugla and turn left towards the trail that goes to Everest base camp.

Day 13: Pokalde base camp.
We will climb up to Pokalde base camp, and this is a 5 hrs walk from Lobuche.

Day 14: Climb Pokalde 5,806m. Return to base camp.

Day 15: Trek to Chukkung.

Day 16: Trek to Island peak base camp 5,000m.

Day 17: Rest day in base camp.

Day 18: Summit day! Island peak (6,189m). We leave early today for the summit. Return to high camp and we will come down a further 300m and camp at the base camp.

Day 19: Trek to Pangboche.

Day 20: Trek to Namche.

Day 21: Trek to Lukla.

Day 22: Fly out to Kathmandu.

Day 23: Visit Bhaktapur.

Day 24: Departure.

Services Excludes

Insurance should (cover helicopter evacuation in case of emergency), soft and hard drinks, meals in Kathmandu, personal gear, mountaineering boots and any other expenses in case of any political disturbances or natural disaster.
